Elisabeth DE VENDÔME 1

  • Born: After 958
  • Married: Before 989
  • Died: Dec 999, Angers, Maine-et-Loire, Anjou/Pays-de-la-Loire, France

  Research Notes:

Her parentage and marriage are confirmed by a charter dated to [1032] which records that Foulques "Nerra" Comte d´Anjou transmitted "honor Vindocinensis" to his only daughter by "sororem defuncti pontificis" [referring to Renaud de Vendôme Bishop of Paris].

The Chronico Monasterii Sancti Albini Andegavensis records a fire in "urbis Andegavæ" a few days after the burning of "comitissæ Helisabeth" (“quæ evenit paucis diebus post combustionem Comitissæ Helisabeth”). The passage does not explain the linking of the two events. The source which dates Elisabeth’s death to Dec 999 has not been identified.

Heiress of Vendôme. 2

  Marriage Information:

Elisabeth married Cte Foulques III "Nerra" D' ANJOU, son of Cte Geoffroy I "Grisegonelle" D' ANJOU and Ctsse Adèle DE MEAUX et de Troyes, before 989. (Foulques III "Nerra" D' ANJOU was born in 972 in Metz, Austrasia and died on 21 Jun 1040 in Metz, Lorraine, France.)
