Robert of Torigny records that "Willermus de Albineio…comitem d'Arundel…[filium] Guillermum de Albineio primogenito" and "relictam Rogerii comitis de Clara filiam Jacobi de Sancto Hilario". Her name is confirmed by the undated charter which records that “Wilielmus comes Sussexiæ” confirmed donations to Boxgrove Priory by his predecessors “Rogerus de Albineio, et Willelmus Pincerna…et Willielmi patris mei filii reginæ Aeliz, et Matildis matris meæ”. 1

He [William d'Aubigny] married Maud, widow of Roger (DE CLARE), EARL OF HERTFORD (who had died 1173), daughter and heir of James DE ST. HILAIRE Du HARCOUET, by Aveline, his wife. He died 24 December 1193, and was buried at Wymondham Priory. 2

His widow for the soul of her husband, Roger de Clare, Earl of Hertford, and for the souls of her ancestors, confirmed to the monks of Eynsham the gifts of Henry and of Roger FitzGerold. She married, 2ndly, William (D'AUBIGNY), EARL OF ARUNDEL, who died 24 December 1193. 3
