"LATE WILLIAM PAGE HOLMES.

The death occurred on Sunday, last of William Page Holmes, aged 72 years, one of the most esteemed residents of the town. Despite his years deceased was a very active man, and until he took ill a few days before his death, a lease of his life could have been taken. A son of the late Thomas Holmes of Spring Flat, up to twenty-five years ago he was a successful farmer and at that time he purchased the old established and well-known grocery and produce business in Lewis street from Mr Ernest Bax. This, in conjunction with his son, George, has been successfully carried on ever since. He was a sincere and staunch supporter of the Methodist Church and truly a God-fearing man, who carried out his religious ideals in a thoroughly. Christian manner. He was universally esteemed and a true Christian gentleman. Besides a sorrowing wife, he is survived by one son, George, who will manage the business, and three daughters: Mrs F. Barber (Bankstown) and Grace and Elsie (Mudgee). The funeral took place on Monday, a service being first conducted in the Methodist Church by the Rev. H. Howard, who afterwards conducted the service at the graveside. To the bereaved relatives we extend our sincere sympathy in their sad loss, which was so unexpected." 5 6
