It is possible William was the son of another William Carpenter who appears in the 1569 Muster Roll for Illogan as an archer with 12 arrows.

In January 1624/5 William Carpenter and Henry Carnarther took inventory of the goods & chattels of the late Parken Rodger of Illogan, yeoman.
In 1626 William Carpenter was a beneficiary of the will of his father-in-law Henry Carnarther of Illogan.
