In 1881 John Trevethan, aged 29, born in Illogan Cornwall, accountant, and wife Mary J. Trevethan, aged 19, born in Illogan, were living in Illogan Highway, Illogan. Present were son John (6 months) of Illogan, mother Caroline Trevethan (59) of Illogan, widow, sister Elizabeth Trevethan (35) of Illogan, schoolmistress.
In 1891 John Trevethan, aged 39, born in Illogan Cornwall, mine purser, and wife Mary J. Trevethan, aged 29, born in Illogan, were living in Lower Highway, Illogan. With them were children (born in Illogan) John Jr. (9), Fredrick N. (7), scholar, Percy C. (1) and mother Caroline Trevethan (69) of Illogan, widow, living on own means.
In 1901 John Trevethen, aged 49, born in Illogan Cornwall, mine secretary, and wife Mary Jane Trevethan, aged 39, born in Illogan, were living in Illogan Highway, Illogan. With them were children (born in Illogan) Frederick Norman (17), fitter engine & machine, Percy Claude (11) and Gladys May (9).

John Trevethan died at the Account House, Carn Brea Mine, aged 58 years (burial record).

Mr. John Trevethan, purser of Carn Brea Mine, died suddenly on Friday. Mr. Trevethan had been engaged at the mine for 44 years, except for a short time when he was at Wheal Basset with his father. He was 58 years of age, and was a prominent official in connection with the United Methodist Church at Redruth.
