MINE ACCIDENT.—On Wednesday morning, about 8 o'clock, the boiler belonging to the fire whim at Alfred Consols Mine, burst with such violence, as to shatter itself in fragments and to kill one man—a lander at the whim, named Anthony Cock. He was a native of the parish of Gwithian, and has left a widow and a large family to lament his loss. He was found several fathoms from the boiler house with his clothes blown off from his body, and quite dead, so that his death must have been instantaneous. It appears that he was lighting his pipe at the boiler fire when the sad catastrophe happened. Fortunately, the engine man was not in the house at the time, and so escaped unhurt. It has not yet been ascertained that any person else has met with any injuries. No blame can be attached to any agents of the mine, as it was almost a new boiler, having only been a few weeks brought on the mine.
