In 1617 Edward Courtneye of Trethwiffe in Lazack Esq and Elizabeth his wife leases to Nicholas Hobbs of Gerrans all those lands called Trewynce on the west side and the highway leading to Gerrans church towne called the Downes (80 acres) Lives Thamseyn wife of Nicholas Hobbs, Ferdinando and Jane son & daughter of the said Nicholas ans Tam. A lease was granted to Nicholas Hobbs of Gerrans : all those lands called Trewynce and certain closes part of Trewynce on the west side and the highway leading to Gerrans church towne. 2

In the Name of God Amen the Twelvth daie of November in the yere of the Lord God one Thousand six hundred twenty fower I Nicholas Hobbs of Gerans in the County of Cornwall gent, weake of body but of perfect remembrance laud and praise bee given to god doe bequeath my soule to allmighty god my maker and my body to Christian buriall, hopeinge of a ioyfull resurreccion by the passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ,
Item I give & bequeath unto the poore of the p'ish of Gerans Anthony in Roseland Just , Fflylby and Beryan fifty shillings vizt to the poore of every of those p'ishes ten shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto my wife (if she live soe longe unmarried) the use profitt and ocupacion of all my houses buildings barnes Stables , gardens , orchards , and hopgardens in Trewyns wthin the said p'ish of Gerans Together wth all the utensills , household stuffe and all the husbandry stuffe , for and duringe her naturall life And whereas I am estated of the moiety of the Rectory of Gerans aforesaid and of all other the profitts and Commodites thereunto belonging , for and during divers yeres yet to expire if my said wife Edward Hobbs and Hugh Hobbs my sonnes or any of them shall happen to live soe longe , I alsoe give and bequeath unto her (if she live soe long unmarryed) for the better educacion and maintayning of my Children , the use profitt commodities of the said moyetie from and after my death untill the feast of St Michaell Tharchangell wch shalbe in the yere of our Lord God one thousand six hundred thirty fower , if my said wife shall happen to live soe longe And if my said wife shall happen to marry againe and take an husband or happen to die before the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell Then my will and meaninge is that the said moiety of the said Rectory wth all other the said profitts and Commodities thereof shall remayne and come unto my Executor herafter mencioned to the use and behoofe and for the educacion of my said Children as shalbe though best to my said Executors likeinge.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Hobbs the some of one hundred pounds of lawfull english money to bee paid him when he shall accomplish the age of one and Twenty yeres
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonnes Edward Hobbs , and Hugh Hobbs and the longest liver of them from and after the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell all that the said moyety of the said Rectory Together wth all the profitts and Commodities thereunto belonging And if it happen my sonnes Edward & Hugh to die before my said wife , Then I give and bequeath the residue of the said terme that is to come and expire , unto my said wife Provided allwaies that every one that shall hold and enioy the said moyety wth the said profitts and commodities shall duringe the tyme that they and every of them hold & paye the rent due to the Kinge and his heyres Respectively ,
Item I give and bequeath unto my three daughters Ffranncis , Abigall and Jane the somme of three hundred pounds of like lawfull english money vizt unto each one of them one hundred pounds to bee payed out of the profitts and commodities of all the lands and Tenemts in Trewens aforesaid (excepting the houses , buildings , barnes stables , gardens orchards and hopgardens , before given and bequeathed) when as the said Ffranncis shall accomplish of Two and Twentie yeres and the said Abigall and Jane or eyther of them shall accomplish the age of one and twentie Provided allwaies & it is my intent and meaninge That if the said Robert shall happen to die before he shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeres , That then his said porcion of one hundred pounds shall come and bee to my sonne Fferdinando Hobbs when he shall accomplish the age of one and Twenty yeres And alsoe if the said Ffranncis shall happen to dye before shee shall accomplish the age of Two and Twentie yeres or the said Abigall & Jane or either of them shall likewise happen to die before they shall accomplish the age of one and Twenty yeres That then the porcions of them or her soe dyinge shall come and bee unto the said Ferdinando
Item I give and bequeath unto Hugh Boscawen Esqr William Carnsew Esqr Hugh Trevanyon Esqr and Nicholas Kemp gent , all the lands and tenemts in Trewyns aforesaid (except before excepted) from the day of my death unto the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell one thousand six hundred thirty fower , upon this trust and confidence that out of the issues profitts and advantages growinge comeinge and ariseinge in Trewins aforesaid They the said Hugh Boscawen William Carnsew Hugh Trevanyon & Nicholas Kemp or the Survivor or Survivors of them or the heires Executors or Administrators of the Survivor of them shall or will pay unto my said sonne Robert and unto my said three daughters or unto such unto whom the same shalbe at the tymes aforesaid due , the said severall sommes given as aforesaid
Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Fferdinando from the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell one thousand six hundred thirty fower (if he bee then liveing) all the Residue of the said Terme (except before excepted) in and of the said messuages lands and Tenements wth all and singular thappurtances in Trewyns aforesaid that is then to expire And if it happen my sonne Fferdinando shall dy before the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell , Then I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Robert All the said residue of the said Terme (except before excepted) of and in the said messuages , lands and Tenemts wth all and singular thappurtenances in Trewyns aforesaid that is then to expire And if it shall happen that my sonne Robert shall likewise dy before before before the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell Then I give and bequeath unto my sonne Edward all the residue of the said terme (except before excepted) of and in the said messuages Lands , and Tenemts wth Thappurtenances in Trewyns aforesaid , that is then to expire , But upon this Condition that my said Executors shall receave and take the issues and profitts thereof untill he shall accomplish the full age of one and Twenty yeres And if it shall happen that my sonne Edward shall alsoe dy before he shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeres Then I give and bequeath unto my sonne Hugh all the said residue of the said terme (except before excepted) of and in the said messuages , lands and Tenements with Thappurtenances in Trewyns aforesaid that is then to expire , But upon this Condition that my said Executors shall receave and take the issues and profitts thereof untill he shall accomplish the full age of one and Twenty yeres And if it shall happen that my sonne Hugh shall alsoe dy before he shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeres then I give and bequeath unto my said daughters wch shall bee then liveinge all the residue of the said Terme (except before excepted) of and in the said messuages Lands , and Tenemts wth Thappurtenances in Trewyns aforesaid , that is then to expire ,
All the rest of my goods Chattles , and terme of yeres not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath unto the said Hugh Boscawen William Carnsew Hugh Trevanyon and Nicholas Kempe whom I make my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament , upon this Trust and confidence , that if my sonne Fferdinando bee living at the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell one thousand six hundred thirty fower , and if he happen to die before the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell and my sonne Robert bee liveinge And if my sonne Robert happen to dy before the said feast of St Michaell Tharchangell and my sonne Edward bee livinge and if my sonne Edward happen to dy before he shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeres , and my sonne Hugh bee livinge And if my sonne Hugh happen to die before he shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeres and my said daughters or any of them bee liveinge , and if my said daughters bee all dead before my said sonne Hugh shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeres , and my said Daughters or any of them have Children lyvinge they my said Executors and the Survivors or Survivor of them will . . . . . . . and a true account what debts and legacies they have payed what money as my Executors they have receaved beinge reasonably answeared all such Costs & Chargs as shalbe due out of goods from tyme to tyme wth recompence for their Travayle and the overplus of theire receipts to paye unto my sonnes and Daughters as is before meant & intended And I give and bequeath unto every one of my said Executors the somme of Twenty shillings to be made or bestowed in a gold Ringe
