In 1891 Richard J. Rabey, aged 33, born in Gwennap, coal merchant, wife Mary J. Rabey, aged 30, born in Redruth,and children (born in Gwennap): Louie Rabey (5), scholar, Ethel Rabey (4), scholar, Richard E. Rabey (2), and Martin (10 months), were with Mary's parents at Moreton Cot., Redruth.

Tidings have reached Redruth of the death and burial at sea of Mr. Richard Rabey, who left Cornwall for the Transvaal some eight or nine years ago. After a series of mishaps and illnesses in Johannesburg and Buloway, he took passage in the Dunottar Castle, which reached Southampton on Saturday. He leaves a wife and four children, with whom much sympathy is felt.
