In 1841 Mary Hodge, aged about 30, born in the county, was living in Wheal Butson, St. Agnes, Cornwall. With her were children James (6) and Mary (4).

In 1851 Mary Hodge, aged 39, born in St. Agnes, widow, dress maker, was in Pearce's Court, Redruth, Cornwall. With her was son James (16), copper miner.

In 1861 Mary Hodge, aged 50, born in St. Agnes, widow, dress maker, was in Bakehouse Row, Redruth. With her were granddaughter Ann Louisa Axford (3) of Redruth, and visitor Elizabeth Richards (38) of Redruth, general servant.

In 1871 Mary Hodge, aged 59, born in St. Agnes, widow, needlewoman, was at River Side, Redruth. (Grandson James Axford and his family were nextdoor.)
