Obituary

"Born Phyllis Marie Barkell, in Halfway, Oregon, December 18, 1940 to Roy G. & Marie Barkell; Phyllis went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Phyllis spent most of her life in Weiser and she always considered that her home. She was co-owner/operator of the Weiser Baking Company for several years. She passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from complications stemming from long term heart issues after a childhood illness. She enjoyed creating things with her hands; her artistic abilities included painting, crocheting, floral designing, doll costuming, and her special interests included her walk with her Lord, her large family, and a large number of friends from all over. Her doctor was heard to say, "I thought her heart was huge from her condition, but after meeting her I realized that she just had a "big heart". She was always generous to a fault, giving in any way possible, and compassionate to everyone she knew. To Phyllis, a stranger was just someone she hadn't yet met. She lived by the rule, "What would Jesus do?" Everything she gave was given unconditionally. She was a member of the Lady Lions, Lydians, Weiser Chamber of Commerce and although not currently attending was a member of the Weiser Community Church.

She is survived by her mother, Marie Barkell of Nampa, a maternal Aunt in Wyoming, her children Brenda (Chris) Brinton of Boise; Steve (Dianne) Wright of Weiser; Teri Erickson of Lewiston; Ron (Becky) Wright of Nampa; and Shelly (Todd) Johnson of Annex, OR. Her surviving siblings are Beverly (Bob) Anderson of Nampa, and Tom (Charlene) Barkell of Nampa. She also had nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren." ¹
