"Marie Barkell, 91, of Nampa Idaho passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at a local care center....
Marie was born December 12, 1916 in Hardesty Oklahoma , the daughter of Francis and Edna Thomas. The family called various places home until they settled in a small town in Nebraska where Marie met and married her husband Roy Barkell in November of 1934. They settled in Weiser in the 1940's and raised all four of their children there. Marie, an expert seamstress was wonderfully creative and had many self taught skills in the artistic realm. She loved flowers and was the proprietress of a local flower shop for several years.
Marie is survived by a son, Tom and his wife Charlene Barkell and a daughter, Beverly and her husband Bob Anderson, both of Nampa, son-in-law, Don Johnson of Peoria, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, Paula and Jack Wiegand, Donna and Vince Keefer, Brenda and Chris Brinton, Steve and Diane Wright, Teri Erickson, Ron Wright and Becky Beaver, Shelly and Todd Johnson, Bob and Kodi Miller, Tony and Stephanie Anderson, Misty and Tab Mitchell, and Loni Barkell and Gabe Ozuna, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, a sister, Nadine Bartow of Cheyenne, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, two daughters, Marilyn Johnson and Phyllis Myers, one infant grandchild and one great-grandchild...." 1
