Research Notes:
"MR. FRANK BENNETT.
It is our sad duty to announce the death, early yesterday morning, at his residence, Femleigh, Rose Bay, of Mr. Frank Bennett, managing proprietor of the 'Evening News' and the 'Town and Country Journal.' The deceased, who was in bis 48th year, was the second son of the late Mr. Samuel Bennett, and was educated at the King's School, Parramatta. He afterwards proceeded to Europe, to obtain a thorough knowledge of the engineering and other practical branches of the newspaper business. He had not been in the best of health for some time, but was confined to his room for not quite a fortnight. Perhaps what he would himself best have liked said of him was that he always endeavored to follow the journalistic traditions of his father, the founder of these papers, for whom he ever bore a most fond remembrance, and from whom in his young days he had gathered much. The deceased, who will be widely missed and regretted, leaves a widow and four children."
