"Shirley Lorraine Simon Bowler passed away October 18, 2013 in Sandy, Utah surrounded by loved ones.
She was born October 1, 1935 in Pine City, Minnesota to Casper T. Simon and Grace Eustice. She was the fourth of fifteen children. She spent her younger years in Minnesota.
She met the love of her life, Jack Bowler, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jack and Shirley were married three weeks later on October 12, 1953. They have three daughters, Linda, Tina, and Lisa.
Because of Jack's service in the military, Shirley lived in many different places. They spent most of their years in Alaska before retiring and moving to Veyo, Utah to run the family ranch. Shirley worked as a cook and convenience store manager at the Spanish Trail in Veyo for many years. Shirley was a wonderful cook and Christmas candy maker. She loved to read and crochet. She loved the hot sun and enjoyed working outside in her yard. She kept a meticulous and beautiful yard and a fruitful garden. Shirley loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting, picking pine nuts and gathering wood. She loved to spend time with her family and most especially her sisters. She had a very special relationship with each one of them.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Tina (Shirl) Fox of Circleville, UT and Lisa Garner of Sandy, UT; son-in-law, Lem Leavitt of Veyo; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Ted Simon, Dick Simon, Jeannette Hinsley, Carol Davis, Bette Simon, and Karen Filice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her daughter, Linda." 1
