Age understated in the 1841 and 1851 Censuses...

In 1841 Bartholomew Hocking, aged about 45, born in the county, carpenter, was living in Copperhouse, Phillack, Cornwall. With him were children Betsy (20), Eliza (15) and Francis (13).

In August 1841 Barthw Hocking was present at the marriage of his daughter Betsy to Edward Tredinnick in Phillack.

In 1851 Bartholomew Hocking, aged 56 [sic], born in Camborne Cornwall, widower, carpenter, was living in Copperhouse, Phillack. With him were son Francis (23) of Phillack, unmarried, pattern maker, and granddaugther Elizabeth Tredinnick (9) of Phillack, scholar.

In October 1856 Bartholomew Hocking was present at the marriage of his son Francis to Matilda Carbines in Phillack.

In 1861 Bartw. Hocking, aged 70, born in Camborne, widower, carpenter employing 2 men, was living in Copper House, Phillack. Son Francis and his family were living nextdoor.
