In 1851 Francis Hocking, aged 23, born in Phillack Cornwall, unmarried, pattern maker, was with his widowed father in Copperhouse, Phillack.
In 1861 Francis Hocking, aged 33, born in Phillack Cornwall, joiner & carpenter, and wife Matilda, aged 33, born in St. Erth Cornwall, were living in Copper House, Phillack. With them were children Elizth. M. (3) of Phillack, and Francis B. (1) of Phillack. Francis's father was living nextdoor.

HOCKING.—On the 4th November, 1911, at Oakleigh, Francis Hocking, aged 84 years (late of Geelong).
Friends are respectfully informed that the funeral will leave the Geelong Railway Station this Day (Monday), the 6th inst. on arrival of midday tram from Melbourne (12.49 p.m.) for the Eastern Cemetery.
