HULLSBURG, Wis. -- Paul V. McAloon, 84, of Shullsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, Darlington.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Shullsburg, with the Rev. James R. Lins officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Shullsburg Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 10533 and McCann-Richards American Legion Post 105. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, Shullsburg.

He was born on April 26, 1923, in Fayette, son of Matthew and Anna (McAloon) Blaine. He married Miriam L. Rector on Feb. 13, 1943, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church Rectory in Shullsburg; she preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2006; He lived in the Shullsburg and Darlington areas all of his life.

Paul entered the Army during World War II from 1943 until 1945. He served in the Third Army under General Patton in Germany. Following his return from World War II, Paul lived in Shullsburg and worked in the Shullsburg Creamery, the Lead Mines around Shullsburg and later for AMPI as a milk tester for twenty-five years, retiring in 1981.

Paul was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg. He was an active member of Shullsburg Veteran's of Foreign War Post 10533.

In his younger years, Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing pool and cards with his family and friends and gardening. Paul was a Brewers fan. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Surviving are his children, Lynne (Bruce) Oellerich, of Temecula, Calif., Paula (James) Teasdale and Mark (Eva) McAloon, both of Freeport, Ill., Randy McAloon, of Wauwatosa, Susan (Tim) Decker, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Tim (Tracey) McAloon, of Rockford, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Eric and Erin Oellerich, Jennifer (Shanin) Solt, Elizabeth Teasdale, Jason and Jeremy McAloon, Nicole Decker and Rachel and Paul McAloon; three great-grandchildren, Brynn Solt, Makayla Cook and Alexis McAloon; his brother, Ed (JoAn) Blaine, of Darlington; and two sisters, Betty Parkinson, of Darlington, and Mary (Bud) Hartwick, of Dubuque

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul McAloon, in infancy; and a brother, John Blaine. 2
