"Miriam L. McAloon, 82, Shullsburg, died Oct. 11, 2006 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 28, 1923 in Hazel Green, the daughter of John and Jennifer E. (White) Rector. Miriam graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Paul V. McAloon on Feb. 13, 1943 at St. Matthew Rectory in Shullsburg. She lived in the Shullsburg area all her life where she raised her family with her husband, Paul. Miriam worked as a waitress at White's Café in Shullsburg for many years. She later worked for Borg Instruments in Darlington for 10 years and then as a seasonal worker at Swiss Colony in Monroe.
Miriam enjoyed spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and wife.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; six children: Lynne (Bruce) Oellerich, Temecula, Calif.; Paula (James) Teasdale; Mark (Eva) McAloon, both of Freeport, Ill.; Randy McAloon, Shullsburg; Susan (Tim) Decker, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; Tim (Tracey) McAloon, Freeport, Ill.; nine grandchildren: Eric and Erin Oellerich, Jennifer (Shanin) Solt, Elizabeth Teasdale, Jason and Jeremy McAloon, Nicole Decker, Paul and Rachel McAloon; two great-grandchildren: Brynn Solt and Makayla Cook; a brother, Dick (Gloria) Rector, Youngtown, Ariz.; and a sister, Enid Burke, Mineral Point. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy; two sisters: Lillian Walrath and Mildred MacNaughton; and five brothers, William, Francis, Joseph, Charles and Keith Rector...." 2
