In 1841 Henry Nickalls (60), ag lab, and wife Jane (30), were living in Selsfield Common, West Hoathly Sussex. At home were children: Titus (5) and Henry (1).
HENRY NICKALLS, labourer, aged 55, pleaded Guilty to stealing at West Hoathly, one faggot, value 2d., the property of John Longley, and was sentenced to fourteen days hard labour.

In 1861 Henry Nickalls (71) of West Hoathly, ag lab, and wife Jane (50) of Boughton Malard Kent, were living at 5 Mt. Hoddy Turners Hill Rd., Worth Sussex. Present were son Henry (20), ag lab, and daughter Jane (17).
