In 1624 Edmund became Surveyor-General of the king's lands, tenements and hereditaments in Worcestershire, on the resignation of his father from that post.

In 1648 Edmund Fortescue of Kidderminster, Esq. was co-executor of the Will of his brother-in-law Nicholas Lewis of Worcester, Esq. (husband of Edmund's sister Martha).

Abstract of the Will of Edmund Fortescue of London, Esquire, written 4 Aug 1673, proved 3 Jul 1674. 2

Gives and bequeaths to his unfortunate daughter Ann Phipps the wife of Edward Phipps £500 to buy her an annuity, desiring that his cousin Finch, her godfather, be her trustee and to ensure that Edward Phipps receives no part of it. Also gives to his daughter Ann £1,000 more, to be employed by Francis Finch of . . . . . . . in Worcester esquire to the betterment of her and her children, her husband again having no part of it, unless he settle something upon her and her children.

Gives £5 to his daughter Elizabeth in addition to her portion already received, as well £145 currently held by Mr . . . . . . Brosse...

Gives £100 to his cousin Jane Finch the wife of the said Francis Finch.

Gives £50 each to Mrs. Elizabeth Acton, Martha Howse and Mrs. Mary Finch, the three daughters of the said Francis and Jane.

Gives to his cousin Windsor's wife £5 to buy her a ring, and the same amount to both Mrs. Minshall and Frances the wife of Sir John Wintour, and £10 to little Dick Minshall to buy him a horse.

Gives £50 to his wife's brother the right honorable William Lord Chandos, in thanks for the kindess and many favours that his lordship has bestowed.

Gives £20 to his brother Francis Fortescue.

Gives £20 to the Lady Willoughby.

Gives £20 to the widow Margarett Lacon.

Gives £20 to his cousin John Howse.

Gives £20 to his friend Mr. Hunt of Somerset House.

Gives and bequeaths £600 to the said John Howse of Bereton/Boorton? in Buckinghamshire, esquire, in trust, to be disposed of as he has directed or will direct in writing.

Gives and bequeaths £600 to Thomas Streete of Worcester, councillor at law and judge in the Marshes of Wales, in trust, to be disposed of as he has directed or will direct in writing.

Appoints the said Thomas Streete esquire one of the executors of his will, and bequeaths him £20 for his efforts.

Gives £30 to his sister Prudence Griffin.

Makes various other bequests (the writing is difficult to decipher).

Gives £70 to his servant Thomas Poynter.

Gives £300 to his cousin Windsor Finch toward the payment of his debts....

Makes his cousin Richard Minshall of Boorton? in Buckinghamshire, esquire, the other executor of his last will and testament, bequeathing him £20 for his efforts.

Codicil, dated 4 May 1674, Edmund makes Francis Finch his sole executor, as the co-executor Richard Minshall had died.

Gives to his servant Thomas Poynter all his wearing apparell and an additional £10.

Gives to all the servants of Francis Finch 20 shillings each.

Gives a ring worth £10 to Ann Minshall, widow.
