While Thomas Bond is recorded as being of East Grinstead at the time of his marriage to Elizabeth Head in 1713, there were no Bond family members recorded in the East Grinstead or surrounding parish registers between 1675 and 1695, indicating that he probably came from elsewhere. Within the timeframe, a Thomas Bond was born in 1684 in Lewes Sussex (about 20 miles away), son of Ottoden Bond and Joan.
