In 1901 Alfred Paynter, aged 29, born in St. Ervan, general blacksmith, and wife Beatrice F. Paynter, aged 32, born in St. Ervan, were living in Loswithiel Road, Tywardreath, Cornwall. With them was Beatrice's father Robert Hawke (74) of St. Ervan, widower.

In 1911 Alfred Paynter, aged 39, born in St. Ervan, market gardener, and wife of 14 years Beatrice Paynter, aged 42, born in St. Ervan (mother of 5 children, 1 deceased), were living at 30 Mount Bennett Road, Tywardreath.
