In 1868 Nicholas James West was a witness at the marriage of his sister Elizabeth to John Mead.

In 1868 Nicholas James West of Hayle Foundry, engineer, was co-executor of his father's will.

In 1869 Nicholas James West of Hayle, engineer, was granted Letters of Administration of the personal effects of his late brother Henry Haarlem Mer Mere West.

In 1871 Nicholas J. West (32) of St. Agnes, civil engineer, and wife Ellen (26) of Penryn, were living in Foundry, St. Erth. Present were sons (born in Phillack): Rooblie Hassan (3), Haarlem Ethneen (2)
