In 1826 Betsey Paynter Stevens was a beneficiary of her father's will.

In 1841 Betsey Hicks, aged about 50, born in the county, and husband William Hicks, aged about 50, born in the county, farmer, were living in Canalidgey, St. Issey, Cornwall. With them were children William* (22), John* (20) and Emma* (18).

In 1851 Betsey P. Hicks, aged 62, born in St. Issey Cornwall, and husband William Hicks, aged 63, born in St. Columb, farmer of 193 acres employing 2 labourers, were living in the village of Canaligey, St. Issey. With them were children (born in St. Issey) William (32), employed on the farm, John M (30), employed on the farm, and Emma* M (28).

In 1861 Betsey Paynter Hicks, aged 71, born in St. Issey, widow, was living in Fore Street, St. Columb Major, Cornwall. With her was granddaughter Elizabeth M. Hicks (4) of St. Columb Major.
