In 1824 John Hawke of Billeter Lane was a trustee and co-executor of the will of his brother William Hawke of the same place.

In 1826 John Hawke was a beneficiary of his father's will.

In 1841 John Hawke, aged about 58, builder, and wife Elizabeth, aged about 55, were living in Portland Place, Hackney, Middlesex. With them were children Eliza (30), Betsy (25), John (22), William (?), and Susannah (25).

In 1851 John Hawke, aged 67, proprietor of houses, and wife Elizth., aged 69, were living at 9 Portland Place, Hackney St. John, Middlesex. With them were children Eliza (42), Betsy Paynter (36), William (29), and Susanna (26).

In 1861 John Hawke, aged 77, born in St. Issey Cornwall, married, proprietor of houses, was living at 9 Portland Place, Hackney St. John, Middlesex. With him were children (born in London Middlesex, unmarried) William (39), retired builder, Eliza (52), Betsy P. (46), and Susannah (36).

The Will of John Hawke late of Portland-place Hackney in the county of Middlesex, gentleman, deceased, who died 30 September 1861 at Portland-place aforesaid, was proved 19 October 1861 at the Principal Registry by the oaths of Eliza Hawke of 9 Portland-place, spinster, and Betsy Paynter Hawke of the same place, spinster, the daughters, the executrixes. Effects under £9,000. Resworn at the Stamp Office, August 1863, under £10,000. 4
