"The death is recorded of Mr. George Vial, of Waikaia, father of Mrs. R. Findlay, Mrs. W. Anderson, jun., and Mrs. S. Ledlie, of Lawrence, which occurred on Monday night, after a short illness. The deceased had been a resident of Waikaia district for about 40 years and prior to that was mining in Waipori. He was also one of the pioneers of Gabriel's Gully, and was present during the jubilee celebrations."
