Algernon Ernest Pearce, married, of Moonta, died near Port Hughes aged 54 years.

"DROWNED.

The perils of wind and wave are ever present with those whose calling takes them out on the sea, even if it is only the gulf,, arid this has again been borne out by the tragic end of Mr Algernon Ernest Pearce, a fisher man ol Moonta, aged about 57, who was drowned in the vicinity of Moonta Bay, on Monday, April 1, about 11 a.m. With his son, Harold, aged 16, Mr Pearce had been fishing from a dinghy about one and a half miles from Port Hughes, and had started for home when a gust of wind capsized the boat. Mr Pearce could not swim and has not since been seen.

Mr F. J. Simms, ol Simms' Cove, was fishing about a mile distant, and noticing that Pearce's dinghy had disappeared, set sail for the scene and found the boat bottom up. He also saw Harold Pearce swimming towards the shore nearly exhausted and rescued him." ⁵
