"Mrs. Rose (Vida) Vivian, age 90, passed away Tuesday morning, December 4, 2001, at her home. She was born July 4, 1911 in Big Rapids*[sic] , MI to Istvan and Rozalia (Szanto) Vida - "She was the light and not the lamp." - Jessamyn West. On May 12, 1934, she married Robert Scott Vivian in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on September 16, 1989. Mrs. Vivian worked as a core maker for Lakey Foundry and retired in 1973 after 30 years of service. She was an active parishioner of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler and was for many years a regular "seller" at the Muskegon Flea Market. In September of this year, an essay entitled, "Deliverance of Dolls" was written about her by her grandson, Dr. Robert D. Vivian, and published in his book of essays. As said by Elizabeth Goudge, "Living with her was like being on a journey of discovery that never ended."
Mrs. Vivian is survived by six children, Stephen Vivian of Muskegon, Roberta (Joe) Escareno of Muskegon, David (Mary Amy) Vivian of Las Vegas, NV, Robert J. (Lois) Vivian of Muskegon, Margaret (Ronald) Kivinski of North Muskegon, Rose Marie Vivian of Detroit; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Vida of Muskegon; three sisters, Margaret Vida, Helen Vida of Muskegon, and Elizabeth (Peter) Fodrocy of Twin Lake. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Joseph, Frank, and Steve Vida, and three sisters, Mary Jozsa, Theresa Javinsky, and Julia Vida.
THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2001, at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Marian Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens....."
