Pope Leo IX donated property to the abbey of Hesse by charter dated to [1050] which names “patrueles nostros comites Mathfridum et bonæ memoriæ Gerhardum, eiusque uxorem...Cunizam...fratrem nostrum Hugonem...domnæ Mathildis [...uxoris fratris nostri Hugonis prædicti] et filii eius Henrici nostri quondam nepotis” who was buried at the abbey and “pater noster Hugo”.
Carutti identifies her as Mathilde, daughter of Conrad I King of Burgundy & his second wife Mathilde de France [Carolingian], but he cites no primary source on which this hypothesis is based. 1
