"Irene, age 76, passed away peacefully at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. She was born the daughter of Walter & Ida (Seiz) Huber. She attended Rusty School in Blue Mounds until the third grade, then went to Mineral Point Grade School and graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1950. Irene worked as a secretary for Harry Speich for 10 years. She married Homer James at the Hope Lutheran Church in Mineral Point in 1960. Together they worked the family farm for many years until moving to town. Irene was secretary of the community block when the Mineral Point water tower was picked out. She also volunteered at the Mineral Point Care Center for many years. Irene loved to travel, to Switzerland several times, Hawaii, and Canada to name a few of her destinations. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Irene is survived by her husband, Homer of Mineral Point; a half brother, James Schlaver of Steamboat Springs, CO; her sisters and brother-in-law, Grace Rolli of Dodgeville, WI, Orville (Gretchen) James of Dodgeville, WI, Martha Ann (Maury) McLean of Lancaster, WI, and Margaret James of Dodgeville, WI; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and brothers-in-law, Charlie Rolli and Henry James..." 2
