I John Cardewe of the p'ish of Gwithian in the County of Cornewall husbandman beinge weake in body but of perfect Remembrance (thankes be unto god) doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge :
[Imprimis I] doe give & bequeath my soule unto the blessed trinity & my body to be buried after . . . . . . . Christian Buriall.
Item I give unto the p'son of the p'ish for wronge tythes yf I have done any one shillinge,
Item I doe give unto the poore of the parish of Gwithian one shillinge,
Item I doe give unto the poore of the p'ish of Lower St. Collumbe 2s: 6d:,
Item I doe give unto the poore of the p'ish of St. Evall: 6d:
Item I doe give unto my wife Elenor one Cowe, and to my sonne Richard xs: of good & lawfull mony of England
[Item] I doe give unto my sonnne Thomas the summe of 13li: 6s: 8d: And to my daughter Mary the summe of 13li: 6s: 8d: And to my daughter Jane the summe of 13li: 6s: 8d: of good & lawfull mony of England, to be paied unto the said Thomas, Mary, & Jane at such tyme or tymes as they or either of them after my decease shall goe to theire owne . . . . . . . or mainteynance,
More I give unto my sone Thomas & my daughter Jane one Heafore of a twelve monethes age betweene them equally,
Item I give unto my daughter Cheston one yeowe, and to my daughter Genefred one yeowe, and to my daughter Anne one yeowe,
Item I give unto my sister Annis White & to her children betweene them xs.
Item I give unto my granndson John Cardewe one heafor of a twelve moneth old, And I doe give unto my Grannd daughter Kaye one heafore of the like age,
Item I doe give unto my 5 cosenes in Trevornan 6d a peece, & to every one of my godchildren 6d a peece,
Item I doe give & bequeath unto my kinswoman Dorothie servant unto Mr. John Roy one yeowe,
Item I doe give unto my two servants Joane Phillipes & Thomas Michell a yeowe lambe a peece,
All the Rest of my goodes not given nor bequeathed, I doe give & bequeath unto my sonne John, whome I doe make, ordaine, & appointe my whole and sole executor to see this my last will and testament executed & performed accordinge to my true entent & meaninge as above is expressed
