"Melvin F. Perkins, 79, died May 5 at Marquette General Hospital North after an illness of one month. Mr. Perkins was born Jan. 17, 1902 in Iron Mountain. He lived in Ramsay and Montreal, Wis. before coming to this area in 1921 to make a permanent home. He worked for the Inland Steel Company for 26 years before retiring in 1967. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former deacon. He was also an ardent hunter and fisherman. On March 19, 1924 he married the former Emily Lohrey. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Jacqueline) Rogosch of Fort Smith, Ark. and Mrs. Raymond (Janet) Plourde of Lewiston, Idaho; two sons, Floyd of Camp Lake and Ronald of Marquette; a brother Clarence of Iron River; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Lucille) Winton of Iron River and Mrs. Eleanore George of Boise, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren..."
