Mt. Mulligan Honour Roll: http://austcemindex.com/inscription.php?id=5180800

_ Another old pioneer, of the Hodgkinson goldfields has passed over the Great Divide. Mr. joseph-Harris, senr., an old resident of the Hodgkinson, Wolfram Camp and interland mining centres, has "pegged out his last long lease." He died at Mt. Mulligan a few days ago, at the age ot 64 years. "Joe," as he was well and favorably known for a few decades past, had for the past 12 months or so been forced into retirement due to that dread complaint of all metal miners, that of phthisis. Of latter months he commenced to fail in health, and it was only due to his iron constitution and stout heart connected with a clean life, that:he was able to wage his war against this dread disease for such à lengthened period. His history of the mining fields of the back country is long and interesting. His lore in mining and other circles connected with the earlier days was a revelation to all who came into conversation with him. The old pioneer leaves a wife and nine grown up children to mourn their loss. He leaves behind five daughters and three sons, along with his wife who still resides on the historical goldfield of the Hodgkinson at Mt Mulligan. His eldest son Joe is connected with the coal mining industry at. Mt. Mulligan. Mrs. Brischke, his eldest daughter, is a resident of Cairns. Maggie resides at Mt. Mulligan, and is married to Mr. N. Young, a well known resident of that locality. William and Jimmy are also residents of Mt Mulligan, as also Lily, who is married to Mr. R. Clarke, of the Mt Mulligan coal mine staff. His youngest daughter May is the wife of Constable Biddle, of the Cairns Police staff. These, along with many other near relatives, mourn their loss. Few of the old hands of the Hodgkinson now remain. These last few years have taken heavy toll of the old pioneers, mostly due to the old gold miners' complaint phthisis. May their souls rest in .peace —Communicated."
