In 1826 Sampson Butson was nominated in the will of his brother John Butson as one of the guardians of John's children, then minors.

In 1841 Sampson Butson, aged about 70, farmer, and wife Anne, aged about 65, were living in Silverwell, Perranzabuloe Cornwall.

Abstract of the Will of Sampson Butson of the Parish of Perranzabuloe in the County of Cornwall, Miner, written 19 Feb 1844, proved 5 Sep 1844. 2

Gives and bequeaths to his wife Ann all his goods and chattels, monies and household furniture, to enjoy during her widowhood. Following the remarriage or death of his wife, he wills the same to Thomas Davey son of Mary Davey, who has lived with him since he was a child.

Ordains his wife Ann sole executrix of his last will and testament.
