Jenefer (Jane) VINCENT
- Born: Abt 1800, Camborne, Cornwall
- Christened: 19 Jan 1800, Camborne, Cornwall
- Married: 15 Nov 1819, Camborne, Cornwall
- Died: After 1841, Camborne, Cornwall
Research Notes:
As if often the case, the name Jane is often used as the diminutive form of Jenefer. Three Jane Vincents married in Camborne in the requisite period.
- in 1818, to Benjamin Tucker. One of the witnesses was a Philip Vincent. This name does not appear in Jane's family.
- In 1819 to John Rowe. One of the witnesses was William Vincent. Note that another John Rowe married Jane Bray in 1817. Jane/Jenefer Bray (who was daughter of Edmund Bray) died in 1826, aged 34 years. Said John Rowe re-married to Jane Bailey in 1834. This couple do not appear to have had any children before 1837.
- in 1821 to John Kemp. The witnesses were Henry Vincent & Thomas Vincent. She is referred to as Jenefer in the christening record of one of her children. She was living in Troon in 1851, at which time she gave her age as 54. Born c.1797, this would most likely have been Jenefer (Jane), daughter of Henry and Eleanor.
On assessment, Benjamin Tucker and John Kemp can be ruled out. John Rowe and Jane/Jenefer (Bray) lived in Camborne Town, where their children were born and where Jane/Jenefer died. John Rowe and Jane (Vincent) lived in Troon, where their children were born. It seems likely, therefore, that Jenefer/Jane, daughter of William and Jenefer/Jane, married John Rowe. Her father died in Troon a year before she married, such that the William Vincent who was a witness at her marriage would have been her eldest brother. The family appear in the 1841 Census....
