Thomas VINCENT

   Research Notes:

There were two Thomas Vincents born in Camborne in 1813, one the son of John and Jane, the other the son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Both appear in the 1851 Census. It was this Thomas (son of Thomas & Elizabeth) who married Elizabeth Hoskin, since

(a) He is called Thomas Jnr. in the marriage record.
(b) the other Thomas' wife was Catherine (née Roberts); their marriage (his second) was in 1840 when said Thomas named his father as John; and
(c) Thomas Vincent who married Elizabeth Hoskin had a son Joseph as well as a brother of the same name (Thomas' maternal grandfather was Joseph).

In 1841, Thomas Vincent (25), copper miner, and wife Elizabeth (25), were living in Troon, Camborne. Present were children: Elizabeth (6), Mary (5), Samuel (3), Caroline (2).

In 1851, Thomas Vincent (37) of Camborne, commercial traveller (black lace), widower, was living in West Side of Union St., Camborne. Present were children (born in Camborne): Mary (15), Samuel (13), tin miner, Caroline (12), factory girl (blacking), Joseph (5), scholar

Thomas was a witness at the marriage of his half-sister Jenefer Vincent to John Bawden in 1854.

Thomas was a witness at the marriage of his half-sister Anne Vincent to James Rule in 1860.

In 1861, Thomas Vincent (47) of Camborne, minerals agent, and [2nd] wife Elizabeth (48) of Totness Devon, were living in Camborne. Present were children: Elizth. (26), milliner, Mary (25), employed in house, Caroline (22), draper's assistant, Jos. (15), pupil teacher

In 1871, Thomas Vincent (57) of Camborne, mine agent, and wife Elizabeth (58) of Totness Devon, housekeeper, were boarding with Charles L. Ford, schoolmaster, in 22 Basset Rd., Camborne.

In 1881, Elizabeth Vincent (68) of Totnes, widow, annuitant, independent lady, was boarding with Sabina W. Rule and her family in 1 Troon West Side, Camborne.

In 1891, Elizabeth Vincent (78) of Totnes, widow, was boarding with Thomas Sims and his family in Condurrow, Camborne.

Thomas married Elizabeth HOSKIN on 16 Feb 1834 in Camborne, Cornwall. (Elizabeth HOSKIN died between 1845 and 1851 in Camborne, Cornwall.)
