EARLY MOUNT SCOTT SETTLER DIES AT 74
James Lugg
James Lugg, a well known member of the Oddfellows’ lodge, died yesterday at his home 515½ Franklin street. He was born in Cornwall, England, January 7, 1841, and came to Oregon 35 years ago, settling on the summit of Mount Scott. He is survived by a widow, Sophia Lugg, and a daughter, Mrs. Max Smith.

Veteran Oddfellow’s Funeral Will Be Held This Afternoon
James Lugg, resident of Portland since 1880, died at his home, 515½ Beacon street, Wednesday. Mr. Lugg is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophie Lugg, and a daughter, Mrs. Max M. Smith. Mr Lugg was born in Cornwall, England, in 1841.
Mr. Lugg recently received the veteran jewel for 25 years’ continuous membership of the Oddfellows.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Dunning & Co., 414 East Alder street, at 2 o’clock today and will be in charge of the Oddfellows. Rev. H. Schuknecht, pastor of the First German Evangelical Church, will preach the sermon. Services at the Mount Scott Crematorium will be private.1
