Obituary
"John F. Yager, 83, of 2711 Jackson St., died peacefully at home at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, surrounded by family.
Committal services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.
Mr. Yager was formerly employed at Farley and Loetscher Mfg., Caradco Mfg. Co. and lastly at Jeld-Wen until his retirement.
He was born on March 23, 1923, in Dubuque, son of James L. and Ermine (Currant) Yager. He married Marianne R. Peterson on Oct. 24, 1942, in Kohaka, Mo.; she preceded him in death on May 5, 2002.
He served with the Army during World War II in the Philippines and New Guinea.
He was a mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with cars and was a GM car promoter.
John was an avid NASCAR fan and was especially happy when Jeff Gordon would win. He especially enjoyed the friendship of his four-legged friend, "Poncho."
Surviving are two sons, John E. "Jeep" (Mary Ann) Yager and Danny J. (Colleen) Yager, both of Dubuque; four daughters, Sue Revelle, Terri K. Richardson and Tina M. Kopp, all of Dubuque, and Cindy L. (Christopher) Cupps, of Peosta, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Mae Chapman and Myrt (Jim) McDonald, both of Dubuque; a brother, Orville (Kay) Yager, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Eileen Yager, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Alex Meana; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ray and Lillian Yager and Ivan Yager; and a son-in-law, Sonny Revelle." 1
