"Raymond J. LaMere, 89, of Lancaster, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Grant Regional Health Center, in Lancaster. He was born December 11, 1916, in Eastman, the son of John and Anna (Gillitzer) LaMere. On December 27, 1939, he married Ivanelle F. Pascoe at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. Together they farmed at Du Charme Ridge in Eastman.
In 1958, they moved to Lancaster where Ray worked for the Grant County Highway Department, retiring in 1978. In retirement, he operated LaMere Small Motors in Lancaster. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster and a past member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman.
He is survived by four children, Janet (Terry) McCann, Madison, Alice (Paul) Moore, Lancaster, James (Sandra) LaMere and Gaylord LaMere, both of Fennimore; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Loretta Martin, California, Rita Noble, Madison, Eleanor Willmore, Arizona, and Mary (Jim) Curley, Lancaster; two brothers, Father Cletus LaMere, Milwaukee, and Floyd (Bertilla) LaMere, Verona; two sisters-in-law, LuLu Mae (Carlyle) Blackbourn, Prairie du Chien, and Leona LaMere, Lodi; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ivanelle; his parents; his son, Dennis LaMere; his grandson, Craig LaMere; three brothers, Clarence, Roy, and Leo LaMere; and three sisters, Florence Steiert, Genevieve Enkosky, and Sister Rosewitha...." 2
