"Virgil C. Garner
Virgil C. Garner, 86, of Chino, Calif., formerly of Dubuque area, died at 11 p.m. Monday, April 19, 1999, at home....
Mr. Garner worked at Ruan Trucking until his retirement.
He was born on May 7, 1912*, in Beetown, Wis., son of Toay and Maude (Birch) Garner.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 421.
Surviving are his loving wife Ethel Garner, and his family in California; five sons, Jerry (Penni) Garner, of East Dubuque, Ill., James (Mary) Garner, of Quincy, Ill., Donald (Nancy) Garner, of Freedom, Wis., and Daniel (Judy) Garner and David (Kathe) Garner, both of Dubuque; three daughters, Jean (Floyd) Berendes, of Clearwater, Fla., Judy (Carl) Stoneking, of Dolan Springs, Ariz., and Diane (Calvin) Courtright, of Victorville, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Garner, on Dec. 7, 1974; two infant sons; his parents; and a daughter-in-law, Janet...."
