   Research Notes:

He attended Highgate Primary School and later Perth Boys High School. After leaving school he worked for Australian Glass Manufacturers. In 1939 he was empl oyed by C.H. Turner, Chartered Accountant. After World War II he was employed by the Mobil Oil Company, and finally by the Department of Civil Aviation in 19 49, where he remained until his retirement in 1981.

Don joined the Citizen Military Forces (Militia) on October 1st 1941, and finally enlisted in the Austr alian Imperial Force on August 5th 1942. He was discharged on December 20th 19 45 after active service within Australia, totalling 1013 days, and in New Guine a, for 334 days. In New Guinea he fought with the 2/3 Australian Infantry Batt alion in the Aitape - Wewak Campaign. He returned uninjured, however later suf fered bouts of malaria. The discharge took place at Karrakatta, W.A.

He pla yed Rugby Union with the the Old Perth Boys Rugby Union Club and the Perth Rugby Club. He also played Cricket with the Woodville Cricket Club for many years, and held the offices of President and Registrar, and was also Delegate to the Metropolitan Senior Cricket Association (M.S.C.A.). With the M.S.C.A. he was, at various times, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Registrar and Delegate to the Cricket Union. After retiring from active cricket he became a n umpire with the M.S.C.A. and the Western Australian Cricket Association. In 1967 he was made a life member of the Woodville Cricket Club.

He belonged to the Buffaloes Lodge (North Perth Lodge), the Freemasons (Swan Doric Lodge) and the Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland (Mordostoun Chapter).

His hobbies were s tamp collecting, classical music and literature.

In May, 1982 he had open he art surgery.

Until his marriage he lived at 7 Clifton Cresent, Mount Lawley, then at a flat at 15 Lawley Cresent, Mount Lawley, while his house in Nollamar a was being built.

He died, June 14th 1999, of Kidney failure amongst other conditions at Royal Perth Hospital.
