Marriage Notes:
"CharltonLester
BRIDE and bridesmaids in pastel frocks made a very pretty wedding group at the Presbyterian Church, Leongatha, on Saturday, May 7, when the Rev. Colledge Harland celebrated the marriage of Miss Jean Fairbairn Lester to Mr. Robert S. Charlton. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion with bowls of pink flowers.
The bride, who is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Lester, "Weroona," Leongatha, looked attractive in a frock of palest shell pink georgette, with French tucks enhancing the straight lines of the bodice and skirt. A matching georgette coatee with elbow length sleeves trimmed with white fur was also worn. Her tulle veil was caught with orange blossom and a shower bouquet of gladioli and fern was carried.
Three bridesmaids also introduced a soft shade of shell pink in their becoming frocks. The two older maids, Misses Margaret Anderson and Edna Charlton (sister of the bridegroom), were in floral chiffon finished with taffeta bows at the back. Their hats were of coarse straw trimmed with ribbon velvet, and their flowers were delphiniums and pink carnations. Miss Mary Lester, the bride's younger sister, wore a pink georgette frock, and carried pink carnations.
The bridegroom, who is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charlton, of Sunbury, was supported by Messrs. Jack Charlton and Alan Lester.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lester received guests at the Memorial Hall, where wedding breakfast was held." 6
