With her were children Hazel May (21) of Butte City, USA, Stephen Harrold (20) of Butte City, miner shaftsman, and Edna Roseland (15) of Hugus, no occupation.
In 1921 Laura J. Oates, aged 58 years 9 months, born in Tomperrow, Chacewater, widow, household duties, was with her daughter Edna R Buckingham and her family in Beaver Mills, Par Station, Tywardreath Cornwall.

Death of Mrs. L. J. Oates.
The death of Mrs. Laura Jane Oates, of Chacewater, widow of Mr. Stephen Oates, formerly of Hugus, took place last week. She was 65 years of age. The funeral took place at St. Paul's Church, Chacewater, on Sunday, the Rev. J. W. Boden, of Heamoor, Penzance, officiating. The mourners were:—Mr. Harold Oates (son), Mrs. H.
