"ISHPEMING, Mich. - Janetta Thomas, age 92, of 128 Shag Lake Dr, Gwinn, formerly of 1008 Owaissa St., Negaunee, entered eternal life, Monday evening, September 3 , 2012, with her loving family surrounding her at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, Ishpeming where she had been a resident for over 7 years.

Janetta was born July 30, 1920 in Ishpeming to parents George and Maud (Lemin) Medlyn.

she met the love of her life, Clarence "Coke" Thomas. They were married on June 14, 1941. Together they spent the next years raising their 6 children while living in Negaunee and spending summers at Big Shag Lake at what would become their home after retirement. Janetta worked for a time in the kitchen of Bell Memorial Hospital, volunteered in the Bell Hospital gift shop as well as at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, served as Girl Scout Leader for many years, was an accomplished bowler, is a member of the Negaunee VFW Auxillary, and enjoyed watching all her children and grand children in their various activities.
Janetta is survived by her husband of 71 years, Clarence "Coke" Thomas, of Gwinn/Apache Jct., AZ; sons James "Jim" (Marilyn) Thomas of Negaunee, their daughters; Becky (Kurt) Johnson of Barrington, IL., and Jamie (Jeff) Marker of Negaunee. John "Jack" (Ellen) Thomas of Mesa Arizona, and their children John "J.T."(Wendy) Thomas of Negaunee, DR. Kristin Lyke of Washington D.C, Karen Lyke of Superior, WI., and Stephen Lyke of Maui, HI., Robert "Bob" (Nita) Thomas of Negaunee and their children Danielle Thomas of New Jersey, Kenna (Gustavo) Furrach of Texas, Amy (Travis) VanAlstine of Lansing, Jeramie (Susie) Soderberg of Midland, MI, Jason (Kendall) Soderberg of North Dakota. Richard "Rich" (Barbie) Thomas of Gwinn and their children Ashley Thomas of Chassell, MI, Jesie Melchiori of Skandia, Sarah (Steve) Sanville of Gladstone, MI, Amelia (Nick) McDonald of Menasha, WI, and Joseph Melchiori of Gwinn. Daughters, Jane Nordeen of Gwinn her daughter Leesa (Mike) Misterly of Gwinn, sons Bill (Michelle) Nordeen of Gwinn, Marvin (Annie) Nordeen of Traverse City, and Anthony "Tony" (Tammy) Baez of Gwinn. Sally (Archie) Mitchell of Ishpeming their children Kevan (Cory) Mitchell of Ishpeming, and Kelly (Addam) Staron of Commerce Twp., MI.

Great Grandchildren; Ian Johnson, Emily and Megan Marker, Haley and Tyler Thomas, Megena and Stephanie Lyke, K.C. and Michelle Misterly, Colby Pisanchin, Tia, Gunnar, and Charly Nordeen, Riley Sorenson, Haylie and Carlos Baez, J.D., Hannah and Cooper Nordeen, Gabe, Matt, and Abby Staron, Trinity and Luke Mitchell, Kyla and Braelyn VanAlstine, Eli, Gabe, Felicity , and Claire Soderberg, Makenna, Bella, Natalia, and Lucia, Soderberg, J.T., Tyler, and Colten Melchiori, Makayla and Allisa Sanville, and Gabryel, Conner, and Parker McDonald. Also surviving are sister-in-law and brother-in-law Edna Mae (Edward) Butner of Nantucket Island, MA and their children Laura (Allen) Hardon son Thomas of Mesa, Az., Edward (Lynn) Butner, their children Christopher and Margaret of Trumball, CT., and Jennifer (Scott) Anderson and daughter Jaime of West Port, CT. Janetta also leaves several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Preceding her, are her parents, Father and Mother-in-law Ira and Jenny Thomas, Brother-in-law Roy Thomas, Granddaughter; Renee' Thomas, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins...." ¹
