In 1871, Betsy Pepperell (23) of Slapton was working as a domestic servant (nurse) for widow Elizabeth Hall in Rockdale Stokefleming.

In 1881, Betsy Pepperell (34) of Slapton, unmarried, general servant, was visiting widow Charlotte Clarke in Redlap House, Stokefleming.

In 1891, Betsy Pepperell (43) of Slapton, single, sempstress, was living in Village, Stokefleming. Present was niece Florence P. Thorning* (14) of Stokefleming, scholar

* daughter of Betsy's sister Grace who was living nearby.

In 1901, Betsy Pepperell (54) of Slapton, single, was living in Stoke Village, Stokefleming.

In 1911, Betsey Pepperell (63) of Slapton, single, was boarding with Edward & Susan Jane Wellington in Stoke Fleming.
