In 1871 Betsy Pepperell (23) of Slapton was working as a domestic servant (nurse) for widow Elizabeth Hall in Rockdale Stokefleming.
In 1881 Betsy Pepperell (34) of Slapton, unmarried, general servant, was visiting widow Charlotte Clarke in Redlap House, Stokefleming.
In 1891 Betsy Pepperell (43) of Slapton, single, sempstress, was living in Village, Stokefleming. Present was niece Florence P. Thorning* (14) of Stokefleming, scholar
* daughter of Betsy's sister Grace who was living nearby
In 1901 Betsy Pepperell (54) of Slapton, single, was living in Stoke Village, Stokefleming.
In 1911 Betsey Pepperell (63) of Slapton, single, was boarding with Edward & Susan Jane Wellington in Stoke Fleming.
