"A STRONG PLEA FOR THE BALLOT.—The bart. of Mount Boone has lately shown himself in true colours again by rejecting from their holdings under him several tenants who, at the last election, displeased him by recording their votes against his protègè at the lest contest. The following are some of the parties who have been evicted during the last few days:—Messrs. George Buckpitt, of Mount Boone Farm, (this tenant had occupied the farm for the last thirty-five years), William Manning, George Bate, William Adams, and John Macey. Other names could be added were it necessary, for it is a notorious fact that for the last ten years every tenant who has been independent enough to vote in opposition to this petty tyrant has had to pay the price of his temerity, by receiving notice to quit his holding whatever it might be. This is a crying evil and calls for an immediate remedy, and the only remedies applicable to this state of things are those of the Ballot and the making of bribery punishable."
