"HOUSE WARMING AT PARRAKIE

A crowd of over 80 people, including visitors from Wilkawatt, Geranium, and Jabuk, assembled at the home of Mr Catford on Tuesday night to extend a “house-warming” to Mr and Mrs Norman Catford. The couple were treated to a generous rattle of tins etc., after which Mr Catford invited his friends to the local Hall where refreshments, liquid and solid, had been generously provided.

Mr McArdle of Coomandook, in a brief speech toasted the newly married couple. Dancing was then indulged in, Mrs Thompson, of Wilkawatt, providing the music.

During the evening, Mr Johns on behalf of those present presented to Mr and Mrs Catford an eight day clock. Mr A. Beelitz supported Mr Johns remarks and Mr Woolstan croft spoke on behalf of Jabuk sports. Mr Catford has, for a number of years been connected with and a promoter of all kinds of sport in the Parrakie district, both in connection with the Tennis club, of which he is Captain and Secretary and also as Captain of the football team his services have been much appreciated. Mrs Norman Catford (nee Miss Beatrice Temby), also for some years has been a good worker in the various social activities of the town." 6
