In 1750 Gilbert settled in Cornwall.
In 1767 Gilbert Hele Chilcot was co-executor of the will of his cousin Christopher Hawkins of Trewinnard, Esq., receiving from him £50.
In 1776 Gilbert Hele Chilcott of St. Erth was co-executor of the will of his 1st cousin Jane Hawkins of Helston, spinster, from whom he received £200.
In 1781 Gilbert Hele Chilcott was co-executor of the Will of Mary Hawkins of Trewinnard, widow of his cousin Christopher Hawkins.
Writing her will in June 1782 Florence Williams of Helston, spinster, bequeathed 5 guineas to her nephew-in-law Gilbert Hele Chilcott.
In 1787 Gilbert Hele Chilcott was co-executor of the will of his first cousin once-removed Lady Jane Vyvyan of Trelowarren, widow.

Abstract of the Will of Gilbert Hele Chilcott of Bosvigo in the County of Cornwall, Gentleman, written 1 Nov 1803, codicil 28 Sep 1810, proved 10 Apr 1811. 9
Desires his body to be buried in Helston churchyard.
Appoints his brother-in-law the Rev. Anthony Williams*, clerk, and the Rev. William Gregor (rector of Creed) as trustees and executors in trust of his will and to whom he therefore devises and bequeaths his lands, tenements and hereditaments, in trust.
Whereas Mrs. Florence Williams, his wife's aunt, gave to his daughter Florence Chilcott £105 which he owed her on his note dated 28 Jun 1782, he calculated the interest to 28 Jun 1802 bringing the total to £210 he gives to his daughter Florence.
And whereas Mrs Williams gave to his daughters Margaret Amelia and Anna Maria £100 each, which he owed her on his note dated 25 Dec 1784, the interest to 25 Dec 1802 brings the total to £187 10s each.
Gives £1,800 each to his daughters Florence and Anna Maria.
Gives an annuity of £60 in trust to his executors to pay for the maintenance of his son Joseph Chilcott who suffers infirmities and cannot support himself.
Gives and devises his leasehold tenement of Trevellas in Helston to his eldest son John William Chilcott, to whom he also bequeaths the rest of his real and personal estate.
Gives to his son John William Chilcott a lock of hair belonging to Christopher Hawkins of Trewinnard*.
Gives to his daughters his leasehold estate in the parish of St. Clements called Belle-vue.
Gives an annuity of £2 12s. to Grace Trefry, widow, for the term of her natural life.
Gives an annuity of £2 12s. to Ann Benny of Sithney.
Gives an annuity of £2 12s. to Elizabeth Trevena wife of William Trevena of Helston, for the term of her natural life.
Appoints his eldest son John William Chilcott sole executor of his last will and testament.
