In 1682—as one of the seven children of John Prior and his wife Zenobia Pryor (née Wearn)—Richard was left 30 shillings in the will of his uncle Henry Wearn of Wendron.

Gives to his daughter Elizabeth Champion half a guinea of gold to buy herself a new gown.
Gives two shillings sixpence to his grandson Richard Champion.
Gives one guinea of gold to his son Richard.
Gives one guinea of gold to his son John.
Gives one guinea of gold to his son William.
All the rest of his goods and chattels he gives to his wife, making her sole executrix of his last will and testament.
