In 1881 William Rail (53) of Manacken, married [sic], railway labourer, was living at Copperhouse Hill, Phillack. Present were children (born in Phillack) Grace E (16), household duties, Elizth. (14), apprentice, Rd. (11), scholar.
In 1891 William Rail (64) of Manaccan, widower, railway labourer (plate), was living in Venton League, Phillack. With him were daughter Emily Rail (25), single, daughter Elizabeth Jenkin (22), married, son Richard Rail (20), iron shipbuilder, son-in-law Thomas Jenkin (22) of Hayle, iron pipe fitter, and granddaughter Susan E Jenkin (4 mo) of Hayle.
