In 1841 Edward Batten, aged 50, born in the county, stone mason, and wife Cedwall Batten, aged 57, born in the county, were living in Tywardreath Highway, Tywardreath, Cornwall. With them were children Elizabeth (25), Stephen (22), stone mason, John (20), stone mason, Elnor (16), and Samson (14), carpenter's labourer.
